Page numbers are reading labels that restart with each file. If you need to cite a page in a deposition or a brief, you need Bates.

Yes. Prefix, suffix, digit padding and the starting value are all configurable, so a production can continue a sequence that began in an earlier batch rather than restarting at one.

No. The file is opened, processed and saved back by code running in this browser tab — there is no upload endpoint on our servers to send it to. You can watch the Network panel in your browser's developer tools while you work and confirm nothing carrying the document leaves the page.
