Rename files in bulk
Renames many files at once by pattern, with the order you choose and every collision found first.
Rename files in bulk takes a list of files and gives them names from a pattern — the same {{token}} syntax Workflows uses, so {{name}}, {{n}}, {{date}} and {{parent}} all work. Order is part of it rather than a separate step, because numbering means nothing until the list has an order: sorting is by natural name, so Exhibit 2 comes before Exhibit 10 rather than after it. Nothing is written until you have seen the full old-to-new list, and every collision, illegal character and reserved name is found before then — two files renamed to one name would leave the folder one file short with no error anywhere.
Works offline. Once this page has loaded, the tool never contacts the network again.
Nothing leaves your device — the document is processed locally in this browser.
Files are written to your chosen output folder, or downloaded as a zip when none is set. Originals are never modified.
Typed into the workspace command bar, any of these opens this tool. They are the assistant's own routing examples, not a rewrite of them.
