Add a table of contents

Inserts a printable, clickable contents page at the front, built from the document's own headings.

Add a table of contents inserts a real page at the front of the document, with dot leaders, right-aligned page numbers and a clickable link on every row. It uses the same heading detector as the Outline tool, so the printed table and the bookmark tree can never disagree. The page numbers account for the length of the table itself, which is why they are correct rather than off by one or two. Running it again replaces the table instead of stacking a second one, and existing bookmarks are left exactly as they were.

Network

Works offline. Once this page has loaded, the tool never contacts the network again.

Your document

Nothing leaves your device — the document is processed locally in this browser.

Needs headings the detector can see. On a scanned document, run OCR first.
