Check a PDF's size and page count before you file

The one your court, portal or recipient publishes — we deliberately do not ship a built-in figure. Filing limits differ by court, by division and by document type, and they change; a threshold hard-coded into a tool is eventually wrong and, worse, believed. You type the limit you have been given and the check measures against exactly that.

The check can attribute bytes to pages and list the heaviest, which is usually a handful of scanned or image-rich pages rather than the document as a whole. That tells you whether the fix is compressing a few pages, replacing one exhibit, or splitting the bundle. Note that a font or logo shared by several pages is counted against each of them, so the figures do not add up to the file size.

The check reports which pages have no extractable text layer. Those are the pages a text-searchable filing requirement fails on, and it names them individually so you can see whether it is the whole document or just the scanned exhibits at the back. The fix for those pages is OCR, which adds a real text layer without changing how they look.

No. The file is opened, processed and saved back by code running in this browser tab — there is no upload endpoint on our servers to send it to. You can watch the Network panel in your browser's developer tools while you work and confirm nothing carrying the document leaves the page.
