A status stamp is a verdict you record. APPROVED, REJECTED, DRAFT and CONFIDENTIAL each come with their own wording, colour and conventional position already fixed, so the mark is identical on every document in a file and a reviewer flicking through forty PDFs can read the outcome without reading the page.

The whole run is stamped from one instant, so a batch that crosses midnight still reads one date on every file rather than two — the same rule the batch renamer follows for the same reason.

Yes. Scanned documents routinely carry a rotation flag, and a stamp positioned in the file's own coordinates lands as a strip down a side edge of the page a reader actually sees. Position here is measured on the page as displayed, and the same is true of pages whose visible area does not start at the file's origin — a cropped page included — where a naive stamp can end up outside the visible box and silently missing from the delivered document.

Give a range like 1,4-6 and only those pages are stamped; leave it empty and every page is. CONFIDENTIAL usually wants the whole document and an approval usually wants only the cover, which is why the range is on the same panel rather than a second pass.
